Year 11

Year 11 will be primarily dedicated to the exam (however, there will be some time to finish making any improvements to coursework).  The Autumn term is dedicated to preparing for the mock exam around Christmas time which will focus on just Section A of the exam. 

 

The exam is broken into two sections:

  • Section A - Action Adventure (50 marks)

  • Section B - TV Comedy (30 marks)

 

The exam will last for 1 hour and 45 minutes (that includes 30 minutes at the start for preparation time)

 

30 Minutes preparation at the start to read the question, view the extract and make notes.

1 hour and 15 minutes to answer all FIVE questions.

 

 

Section A - Action Adventure

Question 1 will focus on how does the extract follow the narrative conventions of the genre.

Question 2 will focus on the micro elements:

  • Mise en scene

  • Sound track

  • Camera work

  • Editing

Question 3 will focus on representation within the extract.  It will ask you to refer to STEREOTYPES.  You must use this work in your answer.

Section B - TV Comedy

After Christmas we will research TV comedies, including the channels they are scheduled on and the days and times they are aired.  We will also look at how these programs attract their audience and identify who the audience are. 

 

Question 4a will focus on institution and scheduling

Question 4b will focus on audience pleasures
